The Sports Desk

Over the 18-year history of the Perry County girls’ track and field championships, tight team-title races have been the norm. Nine times, the championship-team’s margin of victory has been 10 points or less, four more have been decided by fewer than 20 points.

For four weeks, West Perry skipper Jeff Sanno has managed a baseball magic act, seemingly pulling wins out of an assortment of hats.

In Krista Pontius’ mind, softball should be fun.

And, she reasoned, the sooner her Greenwood ballclub got that message, the better off everybody in the Wildcat family would be.
