Early deadline

Due to the July 4 holiday, advertising and editorial content for the July 9 edition of Duncannon Record must be submitted no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 3.

Children invited

Children ages 4 and up are invited to Wednesday children’s day, noon to 2, at the library on the corner of High and Cumberland streets (across from firehouse), Duncannon. Lunch is provided. Readers may call Pastor Kris, 834-5815, for information.

Movie pass issued

Otterbein United Methodist Church has resumed its series of free outdoor movies. Those attending should bring their own lawn chairs/blankets for the showing of “Alvin & the Chipmunks,” July 26, and “Enchanted,” Aug. 16.

Movies begin at dusk. There will be giveaways, a concession stand and music. No alcohol, tobacco or pets are permitted.

Autism support groups meets July 11

A new autism support group is forming in Duncannon. The first meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on July 11 at Otterbein U.M. Church.

Victoria Wagner, mental health coordinator for Mental Health Ministries of Pennsylvania and mother of two autistic children, will be speaking on resources and answering questions.

It’s a circus

Lewis & Clark Circus will be coming to Marysville on Monday, July 7, with performances at 5 and 7:30 p.m.

It features jugglers, acrobats, clowns, aerialists and animals performing on the back ball fields at Lions Club Park for the benefit of the Marysville Borough Parks and Recreation Department.

The cost of the circus is $8 for advance tickets (15 and older) and free for children 14 and under, with coupons from local businesses.

The cost on circus day will be $15 for all ages. Advance tickets are on sale at the Marysville Borough office, 200 Overcrest Road, Marysville.

Golden Age Club to meet

Duncannon Golden Age Club will meet at noon on July 10 at the Middle Cove Church pavilion. Bingo will follow.

Setting up camp

New Buffalo Alliance Church, Routes 11-15, is holding a Super Kids Camp July 15-17, 6-8:30 p.m., for children in grades K-6. There will be relay races, games, tournament competition, Fred “the Bugman” Beam’s extensive bug collection and lecture of creepy, crawly things. Taking up spaces

Salem U.M. Church on Valley Road (Route 850 West), Marysville, will hold a yard sale on Saturday, July 19, starting at 7 a.m. Spaces, $10 each, are available for yard sale items. Soup and sandwiches will be sold. To reserve space or for more information, readers may call Betty at 957-3523.

Physicals due

Susquenita School District is holding sports physicals 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday, July 22; 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday, July 30; and 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6. Readers may contact the athletic office at 834-9030 to set up an appointment.

Sale benefits ministries

There will be a yard sale, car wash and food stand from 7 a.m. to noon on July 26 at Otterbein U.M. Church, 327 Newport Road, Duncannon.

Among the items for sale will be pipe organ pipes, kitchen items, kid’s stuff, sports equipment and furniture. Proceeds will benefit the church’s ministries.

Summer services set

Services at Zion Lutheran Church of Marysville are being held 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. The public is welcome.

Vendors recruited

The Marysville Fall Festival and car show is set for Saturday, Sept. 13, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Craft, flea market and business vendors are needed. The cost is $5 for a 14-by 8-foot spot. Readers may call the borough office, 957-3110, to reserve space.

Summer at the library

The Marysville-Rye Library offers passport acceptance services by appointment.

Other ongoing services at the library include karate classes from 6 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday at $5 per person per class.

A teen advisory meeting is held 6 to 7 p.m. the last Monday of every month.

The library’s summer reading program runs through Aug. 21. The theme is “Catch the Reading Bug!” Youngsters may keep a reading log and have their names entered in the end of summer drawing. There are various contests for all ages.

Youngsters also may drop by the library for different craft activities each week. MP3 players will be offered as prizes.

The library is across from the borough building on Overcrest Road.
